Shopify sections vs page builders: choose your workflow
Choose between Shopify theme sections and a page builder based on layout needs, editing workflow and ongoing maintenance. Start by testing one real page.
Decide where you want to edit
Theme sections are building blocks used in Shopify’s theme editor. A page builder provides its own tools for arranging and editing pages. The useful question is whether your team can create and maintain the required layout with the editing controls available.
With Pent Library, you can preview sections and page templates with your branding before installing, then finish the setup in Shopify’s theme editor. Explore the section library if you need a few new blocks, or page templates for a complete starting layout.
Start from a real brief
List the content a page must support: imagery, product details, testimonials, frequently asked questions and the main action. Find a section or template for each requirement. If an important interaction is missing, investigate it before committing to a tool.
A page builder may fit a team that relies on that builder’s specific layout controls or integrations. Native theme sections may fit a team that already maintains its store in Shopify’s theme editor. Neither label alone tells you whether a particular tool covers your project.
Compare the maintenance work
- Who will update images, copy and offers after launch?
- Does the layout work with the current theme and the page types you use?
- Can the team preview mobile content and make changes confidently?
- What happens to the page when the theme changes or the app is removed? Check each provider’s current terms and documentation.
- Does the plan cover the sections or pages you expect to install?
Test before expanding
Build one representative page with real content. Check navigation, image crops, long headings and the route to checkout. Measure the resulting page in your own store; avoid assuming that an entire category of tools is automatically faster or better for conversion.
Pent Library’s Free plan lets you start with up to two installed sections and preview templates. Full Access includes unlimited installed sections, templates, the branding editor and selling tools. Choose based on the work your store needs, then expand once the first page works well.
